Honda resumes production at storm-damaged China plants

From:ChinaKnowledge June 11, 2008

Honda Motor Co, Japan's second-largest automaker, has resumed part of the production at three Guangzhou-based plants in South China on Tuesday.

The three plants, including two car factories and an engine plant, had suspended production since Jun. 2 due to flooding from heavy rains.

The two car factories, owned jointly with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co, have a combined annual production capacity of 360,000 vehicles with Accord, Odyssey and Fit models as the main products.

The engine plant, a venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp<489>, is principally engaged in providing engine parts to a 120,000 vehicles-a-year auto factory in Wuhan, which is also jointly held with Dongfeng Motor and builds CR-V SUVs and Civic sedan models.

However, the company is still not certain about the time it is to resume production at full-capacity.
